Description
The Smithy at Garthgynan is a blacksmith's workshop, featuring an east wall that includes brickwork from the nearby walled garden, which has been raised with additional brickwork. The other walls are constructed from local limestone rubble masonry. The building has a slate roof with a tile ridge. A large circular original ventilator is located at the apex of the east gable, and there are two small ventilation apertures in the west gable. The main door in the west gable is ledged and boarded.
Inside, the smithy is fully equipped, containing bellows, a hearth, an anvil, and workbenches, dating from the 19th century or early 20th century.
