Description
The Smithy is a blacksmith's workshop built in 1851, located in Stoneleigh Village Green. This single-storey building is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings and features a steeply pitched tiled roof with gabled ends and overhanging eaves. It has a sandstone plinth and a prominent external gabled chimney stack at the center of the front, which includes stone set-offs. A large horseshoe is depicted in raised brickwork above a brick dripmould, with the date stone '1851' positioned in the gable. To the left, there is a two-light casement window with glazing bars and shutters, while to the right is a plank door set in a cambered arched doorway. The end walls have segmental arched windows, with the south end being blind. At the rear (east), there is a wing featuring a gambrel roof, a wrought iron weathervane, and a cart entrance.
