Description
The Dower House at Llwyndu is a 2-storey cottage constructed from rubble, featuring an undulating slate roof and stone-coped, kneelered gable parapets, with boulder foundations. The south gable has a tall end stack with weather coursing and contemporary capping. There is an off-centre doorway on the east side, which requires stepping down to enter, and a small square light positioned below the eaves to the right. Two projecting stones on the south gable support the lintel of the internal fireplace, making them cantilevered. A lean-to addition, likely from the 19th century, is present on the north gable end, with overhanging eaves at the rear. The cottage has two square window openings and a lean-to privy.
Inside, the structure originally had three bays and was formerly storeyed, featuring pegged collar trusses with a ridge beam and purlins. There is a large rubble chimney breast and a broad fireplace that includes a 19th-century brick-lined bread oven.
