Description

The barn at Hendre Coed Isaf is a sub-medieval vernacular structure, likely dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is built into the slope of a hill and features massive boulder foundations. The barn is constructed from rubble, with a crude rubble gable parapet on the northeast side and a medium-pitched old slate roof.

There are two entrances on the long southeast side, with the right entrance being lower. Both entrances have crude projecting stone lintels that serve as hood-moulds, and they feature recessed modern boarded doors. There is an additional entrance on the northwest face, which is opposite the upper southeast entrance. The southwest gable has cement coping, while the northeast gable has a square light with a lintel similar to the entrances and a projecting cill, though it has plastic glazing.

Inside, the barn has a five-bay layout with contemporary upper crucks, and part of the interior is floored on the right side, which includes a byre section.
