Description
Pen-y-bryn Cottage is a small two-storey cottage, aligned roughly north-south. It is constructed of very roughly coursed rubblestone, with extensive remains of limewashing. The roof is made of graded slate, featuring stepped coping at the north gable end and slate coping on the south. The west wall includes a doorway and a window, while there is a small dormer on the east side. A 20th-century window may have replaced an earlier one in the north gable end, and there is a substantial integral end stack on the south.
The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey, but it is said to have a large open fireplace with a heavy timber lintel and an original ceiling beam. There is a later partition below that divides the ground floor into two rooms, and a central A-frame roof truss.
