Description
This building is a barn, cartshed, and loft located at Radyr Farm, dating from the 19th century. It features a slate hipped roof with a common ridge and eaves, and the walls are made of limestone rubble with Radyr stone dressings. The barn, situated at the north-west end, consists of six bays and has a king-post roof. The north-east elevation includes a waggon entry with a lean-to slate roof, and there are vertical ventilator slits arranged in two tiers—one set on the south side and two on the north side.
The south-west elevation has a much taller waggon entry. Inside, there is a stone internal wall. The southern portion of the building contains a cartshed at ground level, which may have been inserted into the existing barn, featuring an entry in the south-east gable end wall. This entry is flanked by piers of dressed Radyr stone, and there is one ventilator in each long wall towards the rear of the cartshed. The first floor of the south-east end wall is slate-hung.
On the north-east elevation of this section, an external flight of stone stairs with a stone balustrade leads up to a segmental-headed loft doorway, which has a voussoir made of Radyr stone. This doorway is flanked on each side by a small segmental-headed louvered window, also with Radyr stone heads.
