Description
The War Memorial is a monument made of Portland stone, featuring two steps and a tiered moulded plinth that incorporates a curved pedestal. On this pedestal, there is a kneeling cherub against a cross made of painted bronze. Behind the cherub, a tapering pier rises, inscribed with "Radyr's Gallant Dead" and names of others who served in the 1914-1918 War, with additional names from the 1944-1945 War inscribed and leaded on the sides and rear. At the top of the memorial stands a near life-size female figure draped in classical clothing, holding a staff in one hand and a wreath in the other, also made of black painted bronze.
