Description
The War Memorial at Croydon Minster is a tall, ornamented cross made of Portland stone. It tapers at the bottom where it sits on a large stone plinth. The front of the plinth features an inscription that reads: "TO THE / GLORY OF GOD / AND IN GRATEFUL / MEMORY OF THOSE / FROM THIS PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR / LIVES DURING THE / GREAT WAR / 1914 - 1918 / THEY DIED THAT / WE MIGHT LIVE." The memorial is supported by a two-step octagonal base, which is placed on a slightly raised dais section that includes two small steps leading up to the front of the memorial.
