Description
The former towpath bridge to the Glamorganshire Canal is a cast-iron structure, likely with stone abutments, that once supported the towpath of the Monmouthshire Canal over an overflow leading to the tailrace of the Melingriffith Tinplate Works. The bridge features a cast iron roadway with trellis iron parapets, which have flat copings on both sides. It is located just north of the Melingriffith Lock and appears to be in its original position. The canal ran along the line of Ty-Mawr Road. A similar bridge can be found about 500 meters to the north, where a section of the canal still contains water.
