Description

The Towpath Bridge of the Glamorganshire Canal, located about 50 meters north of its junction with Forest Farm Road, is a cast-iron bridge featuring stone abutments. It spans an overflow from the Glamorganshire Canal into the Melingriffith Feeder. The bridge has a cast iron road and trellis iron parapets. On the Feeder side, there is a flat parapet with coping, while the Canal side displays a bow-shaped parapet without coping. This design likely facilitates the passage of tow ropes, as this section includes a widened area for a winding hole. It is similar to another bridge located about 500 meters south next to the Melingriffith Pump.
