Description
The War Memorial at Glencorse Parish Church, built in the earlier 20th century, features a stepped obelisk with a tapering arched top. It is constructed from Portland stone and has moulded angles on the monolith. The memorial is accessed by two steps leading to a stepped base that includes a bronze plaque commemorating those who served in World War II. Above this, there is a stone inscription that reads, "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN SACRED MEMORY OF THE PARISHONERS WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 THEY DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE." A scrolled bronze name plaque with a cherub is attached to the main shaft, and there are additional plaques with lion's heads on each side. At the top, the memorial is adorned with a bronze laurel wreath decoration.
