Description

Bodhyfryd and Woodville are a pair of early prefabricated houses, constructed with pitch-pine boarded panels set on a low rendered plinth, and covered by a slate roof with overhanging boarded eaves. The houses consist of two parallel, two-storey ranges with two roughcast chimney stacks in the central valley. The entrances are located in the side walls, effectively creating back-to-back dwellings.

Bodhyfryd, on the north side, features a one-storey gabled porch with a replacement door in the side wall and two replacement windows in the gable end. To the right of the porch is a four-pane, horned sash window on the upper storey and a small-pane window beneath. Woodville has a half-glazed lean-to porch with a panel door. On its left side is an enlarged window, and above it a four-pane, hornless sash window. The east end is a two-window, double-gabled section with hornless sash windows; these have eighteen panes on the lower storey and nine panes on the first floor.

A narrower, two-storey gabled wing, built of similar materials, adjoins the west side, close to the town wall. This wing has a boarded door protected by a bracketed gable canopy, an enlarged window to the left, and a first-floor, four-pane hornless sash window.

The buildings belong to a group. Bodhyfryd was not inspected, but it is recorded to have four-panel doors and a fireplace in the rear ground floor room, featuring an oval patera. Contemporary fireplaces are also present in the first-floor rooms.
