Description

Edenhurst and Woodville are a reflected pair of picturesque Domestic-revival houses, each of two storeys. The lower storey is of brick and the upper storey is timber-framed, with tile roofs on overhanging eaves. Moulded finials and brick stacks rise to the gables and centre of the roofs.

Each house comprises four irregular bays. The outer bays are set back, while the inner bays are broader and rise beneath gables with diagonal bracing. Edenhurst retains only the base of its original finial. A slightly higher axial roof line spans these gables and incorporates the central stack.

The entrances occupy the bays set back from the ends. These entrance bays are brought forward in the lower storey and have angle buttresses to their sides. The doors are panelled, set beneath segmental-pointed heads, and each is sheltered by a gabled porch canopy on moulded wooden brackets with moulded trusses.

Windows are wood-framed casements. Woodville retains original leaded glass, with small-pane coloured frosted glass over the transoms. On the inner sides of each entrance bay is a narrow bay with a narrow single-light window in each storey under a hipped roof. The inner bays feature four-light bay windows in the lower storey and three-light windows in the upper storey. The outer return walls of the entrance bays have small windows. The set-back outer bays are lit by three-light windows, segmental-pointed in the lower storey and set beneath gables in the upper storey.

The left gable end of Edenhurst contains a narrow pointed ground-floor window to the right of the stack. The right gable end of Edenhurst and the rear of Woodville have pebble-dashed walls.
