Description
Woodville is a pair of early prefabricated houses, dating to the early 18th century. They are constructed from pitch-pine boarded panels set on a low rendered plinth, with a slate roof featuring overhanging boarded eaves. The two ranges are parallel, forming back-to-back dwellings, and are connected by two roughcast stacks in a central valley. Entrances are located in the side walls.
Bodhyfryd, the northern range, has a 1-storey gabled porch with a replacement door in the side wall and replacement windows in the gable end. To the right of the porch is a 4-pane horned sash window on the upper storey, with a smaller window directly beneath it. Woodville has a half-glazed lean-to porch with a panel door. To its left side is an enlarged window, and above it, a 4-pane hornless sash window. The eastern end of Woodville has a double-gabled design with two windows per gable, featuring hornless sash windows: 18 panes in the lower storey and 9 panes on the first floor.
A narrower, two-storey gabled wing, built of similar materials, adjoins the western side of Woodville, close to the town wall. This wing has a boarded door sheltered by a bracketed gable canopy. To the left of the door is an enlarged window, and above it, a 4-pane hornless sash window.
The buildings are part of a larger group. Although not inspected recently, Bodhyfryd is recorded as having 4-panel doors, a fireplace in the rear ground floor room featuring an oval decorative fitting (patera), and smaller contemporary fireplaces in the first floor rooms.
