Description
Felin Isaf Mill, located in Pentrefelin, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy, is an 18th-century rectangular rubble building that stands two-and-a-half storeys tall under a slated roof. The mill features cambered entrances and windows, which have been restored; the entrances are boarded, and the windows are leaded. There is a wide entrance on the south gable, along with an additional entrance to the first floor accessed by an external stone staircase. The first floor has windows on the left side and in the upper gable, while the east side includes two ground floor windows and one first floor window. A large iron-framed overshot waterwheel is located on the north gable end, with a window and hoist positioned above it. The waterwheel is supplied by a leat that runs from west to east and is carried over the approach lane by a segmental-arched rubble bridge.
Both Felin Isaf Mill and Clover Mill retain their machinery, which has been restored but remains intact. This includes cogged wheels and pulleys, belt-operated sack hoists, octagonal grain hoppers, feed and flour chutes, sieves, and flour troughs. The basements have slate floors, and while the upper floors have been replaced, the principal beams have survived. The main mill features a 2-bay collar-and-queen-strut roof.
