Description
This group of 12 cast-iron lamp standards dates from the 19th century and is similar in style to those found on the Promenade. Each lamp standard features a circular shaft with ladder rests and was originally equipped with lamp holders and sockets. The finials are supported on two sides by slender curved iron brackets that rise from above the shafts. There are two designs of bases: some have plain octagonal bases, while others have circular bases that are ornately decorated with bead and cable mouldings and foliage motifs.
The lamp standards are located in various positions:
- Outside the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church (opposite the transept) with an octagonal base, restored shaft, and no lampholder.
- Outside the north-eastern corner of the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church with an octagonal base, restored shaft, and no lampholder.
- Outside No 22 Mostyn Street with a circular base, restored shaft, and no lampholder.
- Opposite No 36 Mostyn Street with a circular base, restored shaft, and lampholder.
- Outside No 52 Mostyn Street with an octagonal base, shaft, and no lampholder.
- Outside No 60 Mostyn Street with a circular base, shaft, and no lampholder.
