Description

A series of 66 lamp standards stands along The Promenade. They feature two distinct base designs: a plain octagonal base and an ornate circular base decorated with bead and cable mouldings and foliage motifs.

Between the east end of Parade and Nant-y-Gamar Road there are 18 standards, all with ornate circular bases and original shafts. The easternmost standard and the two westernmost standards retain original lampholders with curved brackets rising from the shaft; the remaining 15 standards have modern angled lampholders.

Between Nant-y-Gamar Road and Carmen Sylva Road there are 5 standards, comprising in sequence: one with octagonal base and modern lampholder; one with ornate circular base, shaft, and original lampholder; one with octagonal base, shaft, and modern lampholder; one with ornate circular base, shaft, and modern lampholder; and one with octagonal base, shaft, and modern lampholder.

Between Carmen Sylva Road and Queen's Road there are 3 standards: one with ornate circular base, shaft, and original lampholder; one with octagonal base, shaft, and modern lampholder; and one with ornate circular base, shaft, and modern lampholder.
