Description
Nant Rhaeadr is a single-storey building with a two-room plan, aligned roughly east-west, and features a full loft above. The structure is constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone and has a slate roof with coped verges. The front of the building includes 20th-century four-pane horned sash windows set in original 19th-century openings, with slate cills on either side of an offset boarded door. All openings are topped with slate lintels, and there are rebuilt integral end stacks. A 20th-century four-paned sash window in the right gable end lights the crog-lofft, and a 20th-century rooflight is positioned to the left. A small four-paned sash window is located on the back wall to the right, while a lean-to on the right gable end features a boarded door at the front and a sash window on the right wall. All windows are fitted with 20th-century timber shutters.
Inside, the larger room on the left has an open fireplace and exposed ceiling joists, with the floorboards of the loft visible. A straight-flight staircase with a plain carved newel turns at the foot and has stick balusters. The smaller room on the right also has exposed ceiling joists and visible floorboards from the loft, along with a small fireplace featuring a stone lintel. Both rooms have red and black quarry tile floors, and a boarded door connects the two spaces.
