Description
Twr Gwynllan is a building constructed with red ashlar sandstone on the lower part and a greyer version of the stone on the upper floors. It has a square plan with chamfered corners and is set on a square podium, which is accessed from the north side by five splayed steps leading to a two-centred arched entrance. The entrance features diagonally battened doors with elaborate iron hinges. The floors are separated by prominent square string courses. Each floor includes similar arched Gothick three-light windows made of timber, showcasing curvilinear uncusped tracery without hood mouldings. The short corner angles display a variety of blind arrow-loops on each floor and rise to a recessed panelled merlon that is taller than the crenellated parapet of the walls. The building was converted into holiday let accommodation and decorated by Mrs. F Williams in 1996.
