Description
The Vicarage is a mid-19th century building that has been converted into a house. It is constructed from rough-faced ashlar stone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The slate roof has coped verges supported by kneelers, and there are ashlar stacks with four grouped shafts that are octagonal in shape. Designed in the Gothic style, the main house consists of two parallel ranges with the entrance located at the center of the south end, and there is a service wing at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical arrangement of windows: one window on each end and one in the center. The outer wings are gabled and flank a recessed central section. The windows are plate glass sashes with returned hood moulds, and there are small pane fixed-light attic windows. Access to the central tripartite arrangement is via two steps leading to a half-glazed door set beneath a keyed segmental arch, with flanking sidelights that have pointed heads. The octagonal piers and responds feature moulded caps. Inside, the half-glazed doors have Gothic glazing bars. The roofline is marked by a central crenellated parapet and crow-stepped gables.
