Description
The cowhouse at Isallt-fawr is a Grade II listed building, set longitudinally on a steeply sloping site. It is constructed from large boulders in the traditional Snowdonia style and features a slate roof with raised coped gables. The entrance is located on the downhill side, accessed by a slight ramp supported by a stone boulder wall. There is one ventilation opening and a raised door in the north gable, which likely serves an upper-level feed store.
The building consists of three bays and has two trusses; one truss has principal rafters set into the walls, along with a collar and tie beam, while the other truss has been replaced. Inside, there is a slate partition wall with orthostatic slate stall divisions against the back wall, and the edges are faced with timber to prevent injury to the livestock.
