Description
The Outfield yard group at Clenennau is a building constructed from rubble stone with slate roofs. It features a prominent hay barn that has four bays, a hipped roof, large cart openings on opposite sides, and three large ventilation openings on each side. To the right of the hay barn is an 'L'-shaped open hammel range consisting of seven bays, with the front wall supported by stone piers and covered with corrugated iron sheet roofing. This area includes a stone-walled front yard that opens to the south. To the left of the hay barn is a milking parlour, which may be of a later date, containing eight double stalls and four stalls at each end, along with a drained floor and a rear service area. A stone wall encloses the fold yard in front of the milking parlour and part of the hay barn, extending further south than the hammel yard. A driftway from the farm runs along the west side gable of the milking parlour, which features two stable doors and three iron ventilation windows.
The hay barn has a high queen post roof that spans approximately 11 meters. The cow house includes a rear feeding walk that provides direct access to a slate trough, with a timber manger positioned at an angle in the northeast corner. It has a simple clear span roof supported by straight ties and two tiers of purlins.
