Description
The farm buildings of Hen-dy form an L-plan range constructed with rubble walls and a slate roof. The northeast wing consists of two cowhouses, one with three bays and the other with two bays, along with a loose-box at the end. The cowhouse on the right features two windows with agricultural 8-pane fixed lights and 2-pane bottom-hung ventilators above. The left cowhouse also has two windows, but these include 'hit-and-miss' ventilators beneath 4-pane fixed lights. At the angle of the range, there is a mechanised feed-preparation room with three bays, one located in the angle of the 'L' and one on either side, along with a horse engine platform at the rear. A driveshaft extends to the room to the southeast.
The southeast wing includes a two-bay stable that adjoins a two-bay threshing barn, which has an attached granary-cartshed. The barn features opposed doors and slit vents. Adjacent to the end of the cartshed is a hammel and yard, consisting of three open bays with a passage and feed room at the northwest end. The front of the yard is enclosed by stone walls.
Inside the cowhouse, a stone-walled feed passage runs along the rear wall, connecting the cowhouses with the feed room. The trusses are standard 19th-century king-posts with struts made from sawn timbers. The stable has a two-bay king-post structure with struts, a cobble floor, and harness pegs. The barn includes a boarded threshing floor, an inserted loft with internal wooden stairs, and access to the granary from the loft.
