Description
White Lodge is a T-shaped lodge that dates from the 19th century and stands two storeys high with a basement. The main entrance faces north. It features rubble walls made of locally quarried stone, with rock-faced limestone quoins and dressed, chamfered limestone architraves around the windows. The building has a dressed limestone plinth and a moulded cornice, topped by a hipped slate roof. There are projecting gable end chimneys on the east and west sides.
The entrance front has an advanced wing on the left (east) that includes a wide, full-height canted bay with sash windows and an embattled parapet. To the right (west) is an embattled porch, which has paired sash windows to its right. All windows are horned sashes with small paned upper lights, including paired sashes to the right of the porch. The east elevation features similar windows flanking the chimneys on each floor.
The property is enclosed on the east and south sides by a mortared stone wall with rubble coping, which includes a lintelled doorway to the left of the house. The wall facing the road is capped with granite, designed to resemble miniature battlements. The lodge has two Victorian four-panel doors, while the rest of the doors are modern.
