Description
35 Quarry Road is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay, rectangular-plan, symmetrical house with a gabled roof. It is constructed from yellow ashlar sandstone, which is channelled at the first storey. The building features projecting long and short, chamfered quoins, a base course, a projecting cornice between the first and second storey, and a moulded eaves course. The windows have a cavetto moulded design.
On the south (principal) elevation, there is a regular arrangement of windows. A set of stone forestairs leads to a central advanced porch, which is flanked by pilasters adorned with nailhead bosses. The porch includes a consoled projecting cornice, a timber panelled door, and a two-pane fanlight above. The north (rear) elevation has irregular fenestration and features a tall semicircular-arched stair window at the centre.
The east (side) elevation includes a single-storey pavilion wing with regular fenestration on the upper storey, while the west (side) elevation mirrors the east side. The windows throughout are six-pane sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slates and has lead flashing, with coped gable stacks and skews. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
Internally, the house is divided into two flats, with access to the upper flat through a door at the rear, which connects to the original central staircase. The boundary wall is made of random rubble with chamfered coping.
