Description

144-144A Manse Road is a later 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house with a symmetrical rectangular plan. The building features a pilastered and pedimented doorway made of yellow ashlar sandstone. It has a base course, a string course dividing the first and second floors, an eaves course, a cornice, a blocking course, raised quoins, and a roll-moulded architrave around the main openings. The windows are predominantly bipartite with stone mullions.

On the southeast (principal) elevation, the entrance is located in the center, flanked by pilasters and topped with an entablature and pediment, along with a letterbox fanlight. The fenestration is regular, with a single light above the door.

The northwest (rear) elevation features a large, advanced two-storey gabled bay at the center, with irregular fenestration and a chimney stack at the apex of the gable. There are also flanking single bays with regular fenestration. A concrete coal shed is attached to the center of the rear.

On the southwest (side) elevation, there is a single window at the first floor rear and a single-storey flat-roofed addition in the center, which has a round-headed tall window and door on the right return, along with a cornice and blocking course.

The windows at the ground floor are plate glass timber sash and case, while the first floor features modern double glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates and lead flashing, and there are gable stacks.

The interior has been subdivided into two flats. In front of the main door and driveway, there are painted square stone gatepiers with pyramidal caps.
