Description
Clachaig is a later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a rectangular plan located at Seaside Place in Aberdour. The principal elevation features ashlar stonework with raised long and short quoins, a base course, and moulded architraves around the openings. There is a pilastered box window in the third bay, cast-iron cresting on the window sills, and a pronounced eaves cornice. The other elevations are constructed of tooled, snecked rubble.
The southeast (principal) elevation is nearly symmetrical, with four steps leading to a centred door. To the left of the door is a window, and to the right is a slightly advanced bipartite box window flanked by fluted Doric pilasters. On the first floor, there is a centrally placed window, a window to the left, and a similar box window to the right with flanking fluted Corinthian pilasters.
The northeast elevation is a plain wall that is partially visible. The northwest (rear) elevation has a centred stair tower and partially visible first-floor windows, while the southwest elevation is attached to 4 Seaside Place.
The entrance features a timber panelled door with a two-pane letterbox fanlight. The house has predominantly eight-pane timber sash and case windows with horns. The roof is piended and covered with grey slates, and there are shouldered, corniced wallhead stacks with circular clay cans.
The boundary walls include a tall swept wall to the east that runs along Shore Street to the junction at Manse Street. This wall has been raised at a later date and features rounded coping. There is also an Edward VII post box located at the southeast corner.
