Description
The farm building at Wern-gau is a 19th-century structure built of local rubble stonework, topped with a thick small slate roof. It is situated on higher ground close to the river. The building features a 3-bay barn with a small central stable door that is hung on a heavy frame, and there is a single ventilation slit on each side. At the upper end of the barn, there is a 2-bay lofted stable, with its eastern front set back from the barn's front wall. This stable has a single stable door and two small square openings above it, along with an access door in the end gable, located just above ground level. Additionally, there is a stone and corrugated iron roofed lean-to added to the lower end of the barn, and a small opening or owl-hole positioned high in the gable of the barn. Inside, the barn is supported by two 19th-century king-post trusses that hold up the purlins.
