Description
Tan-y-graean and Pen-y-graean are two cottages built from snecked squared rubble stone, featuring some large blocks, and topped with slate roofs. Each cottage is two storeys high, with two bays. They have a central four-panelled door with a plain overlight, which is set under a lean-to canopy supported by shaped brackets. On either side of the porch, there is a larger two-light six-pane casement window, and similar but slightly smaller windows are located on the upper floor within raised and gabled dormers. The cottages have deep eaves and gable end stacks that include clayware ventilation pots, with the two stacks at the center combined into a single square stack. The shaped purlin ends project out to support the wide verge.
Tan-y-graean features a central entrance door that is enclosed in a gabled porch, with the door re-fixed to the outside. The gable end stack of Tan-y-graean has been rebuilt.
