Description
Cymmer Castle is a rubble-built gabled tower block that was originally one-and-a-half storeys high with a raised basement. It features a squat chimney on the north gable with weather-coursing. The north and east sides of the structure are almost at full height, while the rest of the building is in ruins. The north and south gables originally had a single large window opening on the main floor, and the east and west sides had two such windows, with the upper windows set within gabled dormers. Inside, there is a small angled fireplace in the northeast corner and what may have been a stair access in the southeast corner. Decayed oak lintels can still be seen at some openings, including two basement lights. There is also evidence of both interior and exterior render.
