Description

The byre at Cymer Abbey is a 17th-century, three-bay structure featuring an upper loft. It is built of rubble with an old, graded slate roof that has been partly repaired. There are entrances on the north, east, and west sides, with a ventilation slit above the west entrance and a small, square opening above the north entrance. The north side also has a central gabled upper dormer entrance, which is accessed by a ruinous rubble stepped pathway that runs from left to right. The doorcase on the north side dates from the mid to late 17th century and features an ogee stop-chamfered design, although the right upright has been replaced.

Inside, the ground floor has a rough beamed ceiling, and the original roof structure includes pegged upper crucks with collars and overlapping purlins.
