Description

Bryn is a single-storey primary range oriented north-south, with a one and a half storey cross-range that runs east-west. The building is constructed from rubble and has rough-cast finishes on all west-facing walls. It features steeply pitched slate roofs, with end chimneys that have plain capping and weathercoursing. The eastern section, known as Tynllan, includes a modern part-glazed door leading into the early range, a 19th-century four-pane casement window to the left, and a further blocked window beyond that. The east-west range has a nine-pane fixed window on the ground floor, with a hipped dormer above containing a four-pane casement.

Adjoining the eastern gable is a later rubble gabled outhouse with a slate roof, featuring a boarded door on the right and a small plain-glazed window to the left. The main part of Bryn, which faces predominantly west, has two six-pane casement windows on the ground floor of the cross-wing gable, with two four-pane casements above. There is a boarded door to the left of the primary range and a near-central entrance beyond that, which has a run-off-stopped pine doorcase. Flanking this entrance are a four-pane window to the left and a six-pane window to the right. A catslide dormer with a four-pane sash window is present in a recessed addition to the left, with a six-pane fixed window beneath it.

Inside, the primary range of Bryn reveals two visible cruck pairs with smoke-blackening, along with pegged collars and purlins. Beneath the southernmost bay, there is a rubble basement on the downhill side that features a fine ceiling, likely from the mid or third quarter of the 16th century, which includes central cross beams and well-scantled joists, all with wide chamfers and broach stops. There is a boarded door and a blocked window to the right, with formerly stepped access from above.
