Description
The barn at Cymer Abbey is a Grade II listed structure featuring rubble construction with large cyclopean blocks in the lower walls and a continuous old slate roof. It has three plain entrances with stable doors on the earlier section to the right and an upper loading bay on the north gable. At the rear, there is a catslide addition that includes a square unglazed opening and a blocked ventilation slit, along with flanking boarded doors. The three later bays are open to the west, separated by plain rubble piers, while the lower south and east walls are filled in with breeze-blocks to half height, and the upper south gable is covered with corrugated iron sheeting. The interior is plain and features a collar truss roof dating from around 1800, with bolted collars, pegged principals, and rough overlapping purlins.
