Description
The former barn at Garth Isaf is a long, six-bay structure built from rubble, dating from the second quarter of the 17th century. Its eastern gable is set into the slope of the hill and features slate roofs, with the two left-hand bays covered in old slates. The eastern gable has a rubble parapet and a former loading bay that has been converted into a window.
On the left side, there is an entrance with a projecting stone lintel and a deeply-recessed boarded door. Above this entrance is a blocked loading bay with a hipped roof. To the left of the door, there is a blocked ventilation slit. On the right side, there are large mid-20th century part-glazed garage doors, along with another entrance on the far right that has a recessed boarded door. At the rear, there is an open dormer loading bay, similar to the front, and a window to the left with a slate lintel, which was once an entrance. The western gable features an upper boarded loading bay.
Inside, the barn retains original pegged collar trusses, although some restorations have been made, and there are two tiers of overlapping purlins. A rubble dividing wall separates bays two and three.
