Description
The barn at Hendreforwydd is a four-bay structure dating from the 18th century. It features off-centre barn doors that lead up a ramp on the west side. The building is constructed of rubble masonry and topped with a steeply pitched slate roof. There are almost full height openings with planked double doors and timber lintels. To the left of the west entrance, there is a small window with a timber lintel, a stone sill, and a stone dripmould, which may have originally included timber mullions. On the opposite side, the east wall has a blocked doorway. The downhill gable end includes a window that lights the loft, featuring diamond timber mullions.
Attached to the right end of the front is a later range that has been converted into a stable, which has end-entry and red brick dressings. The ventilation slit of the barn is visible behind this stable addition. Inside, the north bay contains a high loft that is planked and supported on round posts, with a collar truss roof and a stone threshing floor.
