Description
Garth Isaf is a one-and-a-half storey cottage that has two main construction periods. The right section is likely from the 17th century, while a lateral chimney was added to the rear and a further bay was added to the north during the second quarter of the 18th century. The building is made of rubble and features a steeply-pitched renewed slate roof, which is hipped to the south and has a coped and kneelered gable parapet to the north.
There are 12-pane sash windows on both floors, with the upper windows set within gabled dormers. The entrance is located on the narrow south face and has a plain boarded door. Above the entrance is a coped and kneelered rubble gabled dormer. On the west face, there are three windows on the ground floor, with two 20th-century dormers above. The north gable has modern windows. The northeast corner of the cottage is corbelled out in two stages, with the lower section trimmed where it extends into the former road.
At the rear, there is an advanced left section featuring a gabled, coped and kneelered stack with capping and weather coursing, also dating from the 18th century. Inside, rough roof timbers are visible, indicating that the hipped arrangement is 18th-century work.
