Description
Cefn-Hir-Uchaf is a small 17th century single-storey cottage made of rubble, built into the hillside. It has a slate roof, with most of the rear pitch covered in old, undressed slates. The cottage features rubble gable parapets and an end chimney on the left, which has weather coursing but is missing its upper section. The entrance is slightly off-centre to the right and currently lacks a door. There are small, unglazed window openings on either side of the entrance. There are also derelict additions attached to both the left and right sides of the cottage.
The interior consists of three bays with upper crucks, using mostly unsquared timbers and overlapping purlins. The floor is made of beaten earth, and there is a wide fireplace with a crude stop-chamfered bressummer, although it has been floored over and the ceiling is mostly a later addition.
