Description

Coed-y-Moch Lodge is a rectangular gate lodge built in the 19th century. It features an off-centre arched entrance on the left and is constructed of rubble under a slate roof, which has central paired, offset chimneys with weather-coursing and moulded capping. The lodge is one-and-a-half storeys high, with the lodge-keeper's accommodation located to the right of and above the carriageway.

The building showcases Tudor arches with dripstones and a partial stringcourse that wraps around the left gable end. Above the entrance arch, there is a wide gable that contains a three-light mullioned and transomed wooden window with a returned label. Above this window, a niche holds an early 20th-century painted clock face that shows the time as six minutes to five, a nod to the six-minute ride to Nannau from the lodge, ensuring no one was late for tea. There are additional windows on the ground floor to the right and in the gable ends, with one window at the rear being blocked. The entrance to the right is under the arch, stepped up, and features a modern door, with a window to the right.

In front of the lodge, there are unusual contemporary curved rubble walls that sweep out to the left and right, topped with multi-Tudor-arched arcades, continuous joined labels, and slate coping. The forecourt is enclosed by later plain iron railings and rubble gate piers.
