Description
The barn at Garth Maelan is a 7-bay structure featuring a central threshing floor with doorways on opposite sides. It includes a lofted cowhouse or stable at the right end. The building is constructed of rubble masonry and has a steeply pitched roof made of corrugated iron. The main doorway has a timber lintel and plank doors. To the right, there is a cowhouse doorway with a plank door and a stone lintel above it, as well as a loft doorway above that with another plank door. There are later double doors at the extreme left, also with a timber lintel. The left gable end is clad in corrugated iron. Inside, there are five original through purlin collared trusses and two new trusses, one of which forms the left gable end. Tie beams are present over the threshing floor.
