Description
The barn at Llanvair Farm is a threshing barn constructed from very roughly coursed limestone rubble, topped with a low-pitched pantile roof. The walls exhibit a slight batter, especially noticeable on the gables and corners. Each gable wall features two slit vents. The north wall includes a central sliding corrugated metal door flanked by slit vents, with a door to the hayloft on the left. The south wall has a central door, a buttress on the left, and an added stable on the right.
This barn has seven bays and a central threshing floor, with evidence of a tallet at the east end. The roof is supported by principal rafters with tie beams that are pegged to the sides of the rafters. The visible scarf joints indicate that some of the materials have been reused. There are two tiers of staggered purlins and a minimal ridgepiece.
