Description
The arch located to the southwest of Howel-Sele Lodge is a large and imposing structure built in the Tudor style. It was constructed in 1828 by Sir Robert Williames Vaughan of Nannau, Bart., as a feature of the estate at the foot of the deer park, and it once served as a subsidiary drive to the house. The arch is made of coursed rubble with a slate capping and dressed voussoirs. It features a wide Tudor arch with a gabled parapet and overlapping capping stones. There is stepped flush buttressing on either side of the arch. Above the arch on both sides, there are inscribed plaques that display the date 1828 and the initials RW V AM.
