Description
South Lodge is a gate lodge built in the early 19th century and extended in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main range aligned north to south and a stack located in the rear range to the west. The east front is a single storey with stone-coped verges. A central porch is topped with a stone-coped gable and features a Tudor arch entrance, which includes a 20th-century ledged and boarded door. On either side of the entrance, there are two-light casement windows, each with pointed lights and square heads that have labels above. The left-hand gable, which is on the south side, includes a canted and corbelled oriel that has a stone-tiled roof. All the windows are adorned with diamond quarries.
