Description
Bwthyn Rhyd is a square building constructed of rubble, featuring a hipped roof with half-hipped sides and a plain, squat central chimney stack. The eastern entrance front is symmetrical, showcasing paired arched windows at the center, which have small-pane sash glazing and radial heads. These windows are framed by dressed sandstone voussoirs and have projecting slate cills. Between the windows is an inset sandstone plaque inscribed with 'Siloaem June 28th 1841: C'. Flanking the central windows are outer entrances, also arched and featuring radial fanlights; to the right is a 19th-century six-panel door, while the left door is similar but has been modified with glazed upper panels. The first floor at the rear has two replaced 12-pane sash windows, with an additional similar window at the center of the ground floor, flanked by two modern French windows. The rear and west walls are rendered, and all rear openings have plain modern stucco architraves. A three-bay modern veranda is constructed from re-used late 19th-century turned pine elements. The interior is plain and has been modernized.
