Description

Cwrt Mawr is a large three-storey building constructed from colourwashed rubble stone, topped with a slate hipped roof and featuring brick end stacks. The front facade has three windows and includes eaves brackets, with 6-pane sash windows in the attic, 12-pane sashes on the first floor, and canted bays on the ground floor. The hornless sashes are complemented by stone voussoirs and slate sills. The ground floor bays feature 4-pane sashes on the sides and 12-pane sashes at the front, all with flat roofs and painted brick bases. The entrance consists of a centre half-glazed door with a fanlight, sheltered by a timber columned porch with bulbous columns on chamfered bases, matching responds, and a bracket cornice.

The building has added rear ranges that match the original style and roof height, featuring paired gables facing the rear court. The right end of the building has no windows on the original range, but an additional two-window range has been added to the right, which includes large tripartite 4-12-4-pane sashes on each floor to the left, a small ground floor window, and long 4-light casements on each upper floor to the right, all with brick heads and slate sills. The left end has two inserted arched windows with brick heads on the original ground floor. An added range to the left has a closely spaced three-window arrangement of 12-pane sashes, with a door in the ground floor right bay, also featuring brick heads and slate sills. The twin-gabled rear has eaves brackets and brick stacks. There is a single-storey northwest outbuilding with a brick stack, a 16-pane sash window, a door facing the garden, and a 9-pane fixed window to the rear yard.

Inside, there is a broad central hall with an elliptical arch, stick balusters on the stairs, and 6-panel doors. The left room features a 19th-century marble fireplace and a sideboard recess.
