Description
Rhiwbren Fawr is a two-storey building constructed from colourwashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring stone end stacks, the larger of which is on the right. The building has a three-window range with a dummy third storey and an offset facade to the left. The ground floor includes a 16-pane sash window, an arched doorway with a 6-panel door and a radiating bar fanlight, and a 12-pane sash window. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows. The stone voussoirs and sills are also colourwashed. Under the eaves, there are three short rectangular blank panels with similar stone sills, which may have been intended for a third floor that was abandoned during construction.
To the right, there is a low two-storey added outbuilding featuring a 9-pane upper window and a 20th-century lower window, along with a stone end stack. The rear roof has a long outshut. The right end wall displays an eroded plaque that reads '1799 at the expense of W. Herbert Esq'.
Inside, there is a large fireplace beam in the right room on the ground floor. The roof is reported to have face-pegged scarfed trusses, although the interior was otherwise not inspected.
