Description

Bodafon and Fronfa

Early C19 storied terrace of two 2-bay houses; of rubble under a continuous slate roof with central and end chimneys; plain cornice and later C19 ceramic pots. Each unit has its entrance to the L with original 16-pane recessed sash windows to the R and to the first floor, equally-spaced; projecting slate cills. Bodafon (to the R) has a late C19 part-open wooden porch (closed to the W) with a part-glazed modern door. Fronfa (to the L) has an out-of-character modern glazed porch with slated lean-to roof; modern outer and inner doors, the latter glazed. The E gable end (Fronfa) is downhill and consequently includes a basement; central entrance with double doors and flanking windows with modern 9-pane glazing. Blocked opening above, to raised ground floor, with flanking modern windows, that o the R of 9 panes. 2 C19 16-pane sashes to first floor as before with a similar 12-pane window to the gable apex. A low, storied contemporary coach house block adjoins the rear of Fronfa; coach/cart entrance to E side with boarded doors and a 12-pane sash window as before above. External stepped access to upper entrance at S gable end.
