Description
The barn at Bryniau Melynion is a rubble-built structure with a modern slate roof. It features a rubble kneelered gable parapet at the lower extended end and has seven skylights that are not in keeping with the original character. The upper section has a large cart entrance, a window to the left, and another entrance to the right with a window beyond. The barn has modern doors and windows throughout, with exposed timber lintels.
The right section aligns with the main range and includes a central entrance with a long exposed lintel and an original oak pegged and chamfered doorcase. This section also has a recessed modern boarded door and ventilation slits on two levels. At the rear, there is a blocked entrance with an exposed lintel and similar ventilation slits in the lower section. The upper section has a modern glazed door and window. The lower gable end features three tiers of paired ventilation slits, along with an additional slit in the gable apex.
Inside, the upper section consists of five bays supported by pegged oak collar trusses, with a modern partition between the third and fourth bays. The lower section has three bays with large, good-quality chamfered pegged oak collar trusses that have been reused.
