Description
Seion Welsh Presbyterian Chapel is a large rectangular chapel, likely built in 1841 when the former Siloam Chapel was repurposed for use as the Women's Institute room. The structure is made of rubble on a low rubble plinth and features a plain slate roof. The entrance front is symmetrical and has plain bargeboards at the gable. There are paired tall, arched windows with 18-pane sashes and radial glazing at the heads, along with marginal glazing. The outer flanking entrances are arched as well, featuring 4-panel raised-and-fielded double doors and radial fanlights. Each side of the chapel—north, south, and west—has three additional arched windows with 20-pane sashes and radial glazing at the heads. All openings are adorned with dressed sandstone voussoirs for the arches and projecting stone cills for the windows. The west gable end is rendered and includes plain stucco stringcourses and architraves. A stone tablet, fixed to the lower left of the east wall, has a dedication inscription in Welsh and reads 'Sion 1819'.
Inside, the chapel has a plain interior with a panelled ceiling and tiered seating that rises towards the west.
