Description
Pont-yr-Arran Cottage is a 1.5-storey, three-window cottage constructed of rubble masonry. It features a steeply pitched quarry slate roof with close verges and eaves. The cottage has stone stacks with water tabling; the stack on the right is set lengthways to the ridge, while the smaller stack on the left is positioned differently.
There are three hipped stone dormers with close eaves. The upper sash windows on the upper floor have nine panes, while the ground floor windows, which flank a central doorway, have shallow upper sashes with sixteen panes and are topped with stone lintels. The door has six vertically proportioned panels. At the rear, there is a doorway in the center, with a window to the left, both featuring stone lintels. The roof also includes three modern skylights.
Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered transverse ceiling beams, with end beams set against the wall on corbels. There is an early 19th-century staircase and a massive timber bressumer over the fireplace, along with through purlin collared trusses. A demolished rear wing is said to have contained an upper cruck and an early 18th-century staircase.
