Description
1 Arran Road is a three-storey, five-window former flannel factory built with coursed, squared rubble masonry. The roof is moderately pitched and covered with slate, featuring plain eaves and close verges. There are stone stacks integrated into the roof pitch, with two on the front and one on the rear, along with water tabling. A skylight is positioned directly above the second-floor windows.
The second floor has eight-pane sash windows located under the eaves, while the first floor features sixteen-pane sashes with stone lintels. The ground floor has three renewed broad cambered arched openings in the center, with slate voussoirs, and wide doorways with stone lintels on either side. Behind these openings is an open arcade that has modern shopfronts.
On the left end elevation overlooking the river, there is a tier of windows. The second floor has an eight-pane sash, and both the first and ground floors have sixteen-pane sashes. The rear elevation features two shallow eight-pane sashes set under the eaves on the left, with two sixteen-pane windows below, also with stone lintels. There is a doorway on the right side of the ground floor with a stone lintel and a modern door, along with a modern lean-to along the ground floor to the left.
